Banasura Sagar Dam

This is the largest earth dam in India. The topography is such that many islands will be formed in the upstream of the dam when it is full. These island with the background of Banasura hill provide a hypnotizing site to tourists.

Speed and pedal boats are available to the tourists here. Speed boat ride in particular is an exhilarating experience and not to be missed.

Chembra Peak

Chembra peak is 2100 meters above see level and the tallest point in Wayanad. Scaling this peak and back is an exhilarating 5-6 hours trek from the base. At 1500 meters from the base, there is crystal clear lake hardly touched by human hands. This peak is a trekker’s paradise and an ideal site for camping out at night. The scenic beauty of Wayanad, that is visible from the top of Chembra peak, is really mesmerizing.

Edakkal Caves

Edakkal caves situated in the Ambukuthi mountains are not caves in the right sense.It is a cleft about 96ft. long and 22 ft wide in the rock. There are some interesting carvings of pre-historic age. This location is of breathtaking beauty.

Kuruva Island

995 acres of thick forest along the banks of the tributaries of east flowing Kabini river forms forms Kuruva Island. This island is totally uninhabited. This isolated area is an ideal picnic spot. Kuruva Ireland is a paradise for exotic birds. Enjoy the sights of deferent birds and learn about their nesting habits and mating calls. Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary

This Sanctuary is located very near to the Karnataka State border. Wild forests covering an area of 345 sq. mts from Muthanga wild life Sanctuary, the biggest abode of wild animals in the entire Malabar region, Elephants, spotted deers, etc.. are sighted here.

Lakkidi View Point

Lakkidi is the one of the highest location in Wayanad. It is at an elevation of 700 meters above see level. As the name suggests, it is a great place to watch sun rise and sunset and a clear sunny day, the view is mesmerizing. The view from the top also offers a bird’s view of lofty mountain peaks, the gurgling stream, luxuriant vegetation and winding roads that are really awesome..

The labyrinth of Pakshipathalam is another fascinating trek. Thirunelli Temple
